Heber Joins as Partner and Ahmed as Of Counsel, Bringing Deep Transactional Tax, Executive Compensation and Employee Benefits Experience
LOS ANGELES – October 13, 2026 – Jeffer Mangels & Mitchell LLP (JMM) announced that tax attorneys John J. Heber and Burak S. Ahmed have joined the Firm. Heber joins as a Partner in the San Francisco office, and Ahmed joins as Of Counsel in Los Angeles. Both will practice in the Firm’s Taxation, Trusts & Estates Department, further expanding the Firm’s capabilities in business and transactional tax, executive compensation and employee benefits.

Heber is a business transactional tax attorney with more than 30 years of experience advising domestic and international companies of all sizes, from start-ups to Fortune 50 corporations. He also focuses on executive compensation and employee benefits, counseling clients on trending issues and pending legislation. He provides ongoing counsel on choice of entity and tax structuring, as well as the design and implementation of annual incentive programs, non-qualified deferred compensation, executive contracts, tax-efficient pay strategies, board compensation and governance, and domestic and cross-border equity compensation plans, addressing tax and ERISA compliance, financial accounting and SEC reporting.
Ahmed is a business and tax attorney who advises individuals and business entities on transaction structuring, debt and equity financings, executive and equity-based compensation, and mergers and acquisitions, with deals ranging from approximately $10 million to more than $1 billion. His technical focus areas include partnership and S Corporation taxation, qualified small business stock, Section 409A, Section 83 and Section 280G, and cross-border investments and financings.
